Living Sacrifices

"How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?" (John 5:44)
"Then Jesus said, 'Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?'"
Jesus (John 11:40)

Are you a living sacrifice?  If so, by whose account?

Cultural conformity is not new to the foundations of Christian faith.  The prophets, priests and kings of the Old Testament constantly waged spiritual war within their people and themselves to fight against that cultural conformity which displeased God.   Over and over again, God's chosen people neglected their high calling by turning away from the commands of their God and turning towards other Gods.  A people who had seen firsthand, and heard of the wonders of the Almighty Maker of Heaven and Earth, constantly chose selfish ambition, false temporary security, pride, and self-identity over a life-saving fidelity to their God.  They mistook the Lord's great patience for weakness and ambivalence.

How about you?  Is your life a living sacrifice to the Holy God of Scripture, or an offering to the cultural conformities of your environment?

Calling all disciples.  Our God is Mighty, Awesome in power, and His great kindness, forbearance, and patience is meant to lead us to repentance (Romans 2:4) - which leads to transformation (Romans 12:2, 1 Peter 1:14-15) - which leads to discernment (Romans 12:2) - which leads to joyful, powerful and effective living for His purposes (2 Peter 1:3-11).

With you for His glory-
